Sanctity of Life

The fifth verse of The Family: A Proclamation to the World, states: "WE DECLARE the means by which mortal life is created to be divinely appointed. We affirm the sanctity of life and of its importance in God's plan."To me that says that I have and neither does anyone else have any right of taking someone else's life, or theirs for that matter. I love the knowledge that I get from the above statement; that "the means by which mortal life is created is divinely appointed," It simply is saying that being able to create a life and bring a child in this life is participating with God, in the creation of something way special.

If human life is holy or consecrate, then certainly it is among the most important things there is and ever will be in this life. One issue that I feel strongly about is abortion. I know that at times some people find themselves in situations that are not ideal, pregnant when they are not ready for the responsibility of a child. (I do not want to say unwanted pregnancy because there never was, nor will there ever be an unwanted child) It is not uncommon and rather unfortunate that some tend to find abortion to be the solution. I feel that in some situations, for example pregnancy as a result of rape, or when the mothers' life is at risk; then abortion can be considered. Even then, this is a decision to be made through much prayer and reliance on the Lord. Below is a poem I wrote about my feelings toward abortion, it's simply titled:

Arbotion
The inviolability of human life
Is another key element of
Human ecology; especially
Its beginning and it's end.

The right to life is the first and most
Fundamental of all human rights
When that right is denied;
All other rights are threatened.

Assuming that abortion is a human right
Deserving legislature sanction is a
Contradiction which amounts to a
Denial of the human dignity and
Freedom which the law is supposed to protect.

Society will be judged on the
Basis of how it treats its
Weakest members............and
Among the most vulnerable
Are...surely the unborn.

A fathers' interest in having a
Child....perhaps his only child
may be unmatched by no other
Interest in his life.

Assigning a greater value to a
Mothers' decision to cut off a
Potential human life by abortion
Without sound reasoning; than
To a fathers' decision to let it
Mature into a live child is rather unfair.
